Keeping Your Light Bright

It is so great to settle on the beautiful island of Nantucket for most of the summer. I have always wanted to participate in the community in a bigger way. I am very happy to be teaching yoga classes and offering the Oneness Blessing this summer. For those of you who are ready to take your practice to a deeper level and really be Lighthouses in your community I thought I would share some of the ways you could do this.

The Goddess Kali

Kali is the Goddess of fierce goodness. In her blackness she is all-embracing absorbing all colors "Just as all colors disappear in black, so all names and forms disappear in her" (Mahanirvana Tantra). She transcends all form. She is Nature. In her absolute, primordial nakedness she is free from all coverings of illusion or maya. She is the bright fire of Truth. Kali dwells in the heart of her devotees and through her grace of awareness burns away attachments and limitations. She laughs at our ego and opens us up to accept reality, embrace our humanness. Kali is the goddess of kala (time) and her boon is freedom. Kali is the Mother of all.
