The Goddess Kali

Kali is the Goddess of fierce goodness. In her blackness she is all-embracing absorbing all colors "Just as all colors disappear in black, so all names and forms disappear in her" (Mahanirvana Tantra). She transcends all form. She is Nature. In her absolute, primordial nakedness she is free from all coverings of illusion or maya. She is the bright fire of Truth. Kali dwells in the heart of her devotees and through her grace of awareness burns away attachments and limitations. She laughs at our ego and opens us up to accept reality, embrace our humanness. Kali is the goddess of kala (time) and her boon is freedom. Kali is the Mother of all.

One of my spiritual teachers Sally Kempton wrote a wonderful article on how to connect with your inner Kali.  http://www.sallykempton.com/yjarticles/fierce.html

F.Y.I.

Hindu deities represent different aspects of the Divine. It is a rich and ancient technology to bring us into personal relationship with the Absolute All That Is. In other words making It absorbable for our little ant minds. (sorry that's the Kali K in me :-)

Yotza???

I love to tell people that the word "yotza" comes from the ancient sanskrit language and holds a powerful mystical vibration. In order to not mess up my karma any more than I already have this lifetime I always come clean with the truth which we all, at one time or another, have experienced to be more interesting than fiction. When I began to dive deeper into my yoga studies I would drag my kids to the daycare at the gym to get my practice in. On many weekends I would be at a workshop or a teacher training. During this time Josh was a 4 year old and Max was 1. When Josh was at his pre-school one of the teachers asked him what his Mom did. In his 4 year old manner he responded "She does yotz'n, yotza yoga."

There you have it. A cutsie name is born and I have never had the heart to change it. Yotza Yoga has been an incredible journey. Yotza Yoga is my way of sharing my truth, faith, hope, light and joy with every human being I can.
